Vercel Log Drains

Vercel sends your site's request logs to ByDefault. Nothing to install or deploy.

How it works

Log drains let you send Vercel request logs to third-party sources. We only store verified AI requests and never store human requests or sensitive information like IP adresses.

Log drains need Vercel's Pro plan or above. On Hobby, use Vercel Middleware, which works on any plan.

Set up the drain

In ByDefault, open Analytics, click Connect your site, then pick Vercel and Log Drains. Keep it open next to Vercel: it has your endpoint URL and tells you when the drain works.

  1. Open your team's drain settings in Vercel. Click Add Drain, pick Logs, then click Next.

  2. Fill in the form like this. You don't need sampling rules. Click Next.

  3. Pick Custom Endpoint and paste your endpoint URL from the setup as the URL, then click Test. The other defaults are fine. Your token is part of the URL, since Vercel's form has no field for it:

    Endpoint URL
  4. Click Create Drain at the end of the wizard. That's everything on Vercel's side.

Check the connection

While the setup is open, ByDefault visits your site the way an AI assistant would, every few seconds. Once the drain works, it delivers our visit, and the setup turns green.

Troubleshooting

It still says Vercel reached your endpoint

The URL and token work, but no visit has come through the drain yet. Check that you clicked Create Drain, that the drain covers the project serving your site, and that Production is checked under Environments.
